Tulsi Gabbard claims that the Democrats have caved to "anti-white racism" and "cowardly wokeness."
Tulsi Gabbard, a former contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, declared on Tuesday that she was leaving the party after calling it a "elitist cabal."
Gabbard, a former member of the House of Representatives who left office in 2021, denigrated the organization in a nearly 30-minute video that she uploaded to YouTube. She made no mention of wanting to become a Republican or change her political affiliation.
In an excerpt shared on Twitter, Gabbard said, "I can no longer remain in today's Democratic Party that is now completely controlled by an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism.
She continued by urging other moderate Democrats to take her lead.
"I support a democratic system of government that is run by, for, and by the people. Sadly, the Democratic Party of today does not. Instead, it represents a government that is run by, for, and by the wealthy elite "She went on. I'm urging my fellow reasonable, independent-minded Democrats to leave the Democratic Party with me.
The first episode of Gabbard's new podcast, the Tusli Gabbard Show, featured her announcement.
Since she was unsuccessful in her bid for the 2020 presidential nomination, Gabbard has become increasingly distant from the Democratic establishment. She has also started to publicly criticize Vice President Biden, accusing him of "pouring fuel on the flames" of the nation's division.
In an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich praised Tulsi for rejecting the Democrats. She is one of many Americans, he claimed, who have historically voted for the Democrats but now don't recognize them.
According to Gingrich, Gabbard "has sort of always been an independent maverick." And I believe that when she decided to run for president, she realized just how distant she was from the vast majority of the Democratic Party, which is currently, quite a strange party. I believe you recognize this drift. And it's undeniable that Latinos have shifted significantly toward the Republican Party as a result of the bizarre policies of the Democratic Party.
